The Firetail Gudgeon is a stunning native Australian fish that brings a splash of vivid colour to any aquarium. Males display a brilliant red-orange tail and striking blue and red markings on their fins, especially when in breeding condition — making them one of the most colourful freshwater fish found in Australia. • pH: 6.5–7.5

Firetail Gudgeons thrive in well-planted aquariums with open swimming space and hiding spots among rocks and driftwood. Their tolerance for cooler temperatures makes them suitable for unheated tanks in temperate climates. A beautiful and underrated native species.
