The Black Kuhli Loach is a sleek, eel-like bottom dweller with a uniform deep black colouring that gives it a mysterious, elegant appearance. Shy and nocturnal by nature, these fascinating loaches love to burrow into soft substrate and squeeze into tight hiding spots — but once settled, they become more active and are a joy to watch weaving through plants and decor.

• Temperature: 24–28°C

• Substrate: Fine sand preferred to protect their delicate undersides
• Best kept: In groups of 4 or more
