The Sucking Catfish, also known as the Chinese Algae Eater, is a popular and hardworking algae grazer that uses its powerful sucker mouth to cling to glass, rocks, and driftwood. Active and robust, it keeps your tank surfaces clean while adding an interesting bottom-dwelling presence to your aquarium.

• Origin: Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam)
• Adult size: Up to 28 cm
• Temperament: Peaceful when young; can become territorial with age, especially toward other bottom dwellers

• Diet: Herbivore — algae, sinking wafers, blanched vegetables, biofilm
• Temperature: 22–28°C
• pH: 6.0–8.0

Best kept in a spacious tank with plenty of smooth rocks and driftwood to graze on. As they mature they can become more assertive, so choose tankmates accordingly. A reliable and fascinating algae-control fish for larger community setups.
